EMTECH SPACE S.A., a company active in space technology and innovation, announces the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Hellenic Air Force Academy (HAFA). The MoU aims to strengthen collaboration in the fields of research, education, and technological development.

The Memorandum was signed on June 17, 2025, by Mr. Nikolaos-Antonios Livanos, President and CEO of EMTECH SPACE, and Major General (I) Matthaios Kanoupakis, Commandant of the Hellenic Air Force Academy.

The agreement was presented during HAFA’s Two-Day Technology Conference, where EMTECH SPACE participated as an invited collaborating entity, alongside other Greek and international companies from the technology and aerospace sectors.

During the event, EMTECH SPACE provided a detailed presentation on the development cycle of a CubeSat mission, drawing from its experience with the Hellenic Space Dawn (HSD) mission, which is currently under design. HSD is an Earth observation mission that incorporates optical (laser) communication capabilities between the satellite and a ground station for rapid and secure data transmission. The mission targets critical applications such as surveillance, civil protection, and agricultural monitoring.

The collaboration has already commenced with practical actions, including the undertaking of two diploma theses by Hellenic Air Force Academy cadets, with topics related to space systems and applications.

The key areas of collaboration include:

  • Participation in research and technology projects of mutual interest.
  • Exchange of know-how and scientific data.
  • Development of new technologies for applications in the defense and space sectors.
  • Education and enhancement of human resources through seminars, studies, and active participation of students and personnel in innovative initiatives.

The collaboration seeks to establish a functional framework between the Hellenic Air Force Academy and an applied technology entity in the space sector. Connecting theoretical knowledge with technological practice is expected to contribute to the development of solutions that address contemporary operational needs.

Mr. Nikolaos-Antonios Livanos, President and CEO of EMTECH SPACE, stated: “Our collaboration with the Hellenic Air Force Academy creates the preconditions for linking research with technological development. The exchange of knowledge and experience is crucial for promoting applications with a significant impact on the country’s defense and space ecosystem.”
